Outer Box Experience at Dare 2008
An update is needed
17th July 2008
Hey folks, thought I should update this thing whilst I'm rendering out the Bogeyman.
Stress has been the name of the game the last two weeks on all our parts.
The programmers have had a few major problems using Gamerbryo - they had never used it before and things were looking scary at a point. Gamebryo support,John O Kane and Brendan Dillon of Demonware have helped put us back on track with that side of things. And on better timing.
Elijah has worked out the raypicking and has almost done the nodes for the level - he has also finished up moving the mouse and cameras.
Michael has on his part made brilliant progress on the area of switching characters and getting them to work with the user interface. This is the core mechanics and we are determined to get it into place and make it work irregardless of sleepless nights which we are all used to already.
Niall's progress with the level is going great. Textures are normal mapped and he is about to start baking. It really looks the part and with the help of Peter Mc Nally we may get a good feel into how Dark world and Light world works by changing the alpha channels with the flick of a switch.
Alan's (Mullet's) sound stuff is pretty much done - but his home computer was graced by a virus and he has had to resalvage all - successfully - and in turn has been making assets; that apparently he was terrible at yet have turned out looking great.
I have been working more on characters through Max and Mudbox for Normal mapping purposes and trying them out in Gamebryo - looks well and the frames rates are being nice to us. Animations of the 4 others character have started and won't take long finish up - Hopefully by tuesday of next week.
Marketing has begun - and ideas are down must see how we manage our time for that. The trailer will be storyboarded today also.
We are back on target and we are getting there. The sanity is decreasing but hey this is what it is all about!
Hope you enjoy the artwork.
