Nevermind Games at Dare 2010

First one...

9th June 2010

..so it's not really an update if we've said nothing here yet. So here it is, our first diary post. It's Wednesday, and we're full steam ahead on the project. I, Kev, (the one with dreads, not the other Kev) will be posting here regularly updating you on our progress and hopefully giving you an insight as to what it's like to develop a game for the Wii while under the influence of being Irish.

So far, like most teams, we've had a few hiccups. However the programming boys, Mark, Spoon and our Team Leader Al, are throwing around all sorts of jargon interspersed with them saying YES! and AWESOME at a much higher ratio to cursing or angry grunting! So with that I assume things are going quite well with getting our engine set-up and ready to go. I'll attempt to ask them later what they've done.

Veen, the other Kev, seems to be making heaps of props and environments. Oh yes, this guy is like an Aldi on Thursdays for random stuff that we want. He's also figured out the exporters and such for 3D studio max, and is working closely with the other 3 and getting content into our engine.

Finally, I'm working away on 3D character models, my last job involved making robots so I'm getting the flow back for organic stuff. We humans are so damn complicated! Especially when you're trying to mess with proportions and still be convincing, instead of plunging skill first into the Uncanny Valley. Aside from this, I've run a few animation tests and experiments, and naturally have had some trial and error. Right now I don't have anything to show off is what I'm trying to say, and neither do the others, so you'll have to a little patient. We can't see it being too long before we're throwing up some niceness for you to gawk at.
