To celebrate Dare ProtoPlay coming home to Dundee, we have partnered with one of the major Dundee creative forces DC Thomson to run a comic strip competition and we are calling for your entries! Over its 106 year history, DC Thomson has created many memorable comics such as The Dandy and The Beano as well as iconic comic characters such as Dennis the Menace and Desperate Dan.
We want you to get your creative heads on and produce a 10 frame video games related comic strip. Pick one or more of the DC Thomson characters below and create your own characters to come up with an exciting story that expresses your passion for gaming.

The Prizes
All shortlisted entries will be displayed at Dare ProtoPlay in the Caird Hall, Dundee between the 12-14 August. All winners will be invited to the Dare ProtoPlay awards ceremony to collect their prize.
1st Prize - The winning storyboard will be displayed on the Beano / Dandy and Dare websites. The winner will have the chance to visit the Beano/Dandy offices to see how the process works and help put together pages for the comic, with the winner having his/her comic character polished into something that could appear in the pages.
Runners up - Will have their storyboard displayed on the Beano / Dandy and Dare websites and will receive Beano/Dandy merchandise.

The Rules
-You must be age 13 and below to take part
-Participants will create a maximum 10-frame storyboard.
-Comic strips must be submitted as a jpeg, no bigger than 5MB.
-At least 1 character will need to be chosen from the DC Thomson characters listed above (you can re-draw the image) and at least 1 original character created by the participant.
-The story has to be video games related
-You must include your name, age, city and submission title at the beginning of your comic strip
-The closing date for the competition is 31st July. Winners will be announced at the Dare ProtoPlay Awards ceremony on 14th August in Dundee.
Finalists will need to arrange their own travel, accommodation and visa (if required) to attend the Awards Ceremony at Dare ProtoPlay.
